About

Why I care

Jesse Matthews has committed his life to public service. Raised in the Pipe Shop Community of Bessemer with his grandparents and six brothers and sisters, Matthews watched his grandfather lead by example on community improvement projects. As an adult, he continued his grandfather’s work. Blight was one of the community issues he wanted to better for current citizens, the area’s economy and for future generations to want to continue to build on.
